Class Goals and Outline

By the time the students graduate, whether they aim to become researchers or work in an industry, global cooperation and competition will have progressed in research, economics, international relations, media, and society. They will be living in a global era, even if they stay in Japan.
This class aims to give students the ability to consider things with a broad outlook towards the future and an awareness of global problems. Guest speakers from the forefront of various fields will be invited. Students will form concrete action plans for the future and personal goals/visions through lectures, and exchange opinions with other students. 

Eligibility

A2.2 level in the CEFR/JF Standard for Japanese-Language Education (N3 in the JLPT).

Learning Objectives

1. Learn about the globalization of society from various perspectives beyond one's own field of specialization and develop problem awareness.
2. Learn to express one's own opinions and ideas to others through group discussions and reports.
3. Consider how to spend university life and form a concrete action plan in light of the globalized era post-graduation. 

Number of Classes (per week)

Spring term: once/week (1 period/week), 15 classes total 

Course Content

About 10 guest speakers from global fields, such as internationally active researchers, people involved in UN activities, engineers, and young entrepreneurs, will be invited to give lectures and share opinions on various themes. A number of group discussions and presentations will be held during the first term.

Attendance (50%), speaking in class and participation (20%), reports (30%)
