 Business Journalism Internship 5

Level 5 (Upper-intermediate)

Class Goals and Outline

In Japan, regional medium/small businesses make up 99.7% of corporations, accounting for 70% of employment. However, most businesses have no point of contact with young people as their publicity resources are insufficient. In this class, students will hear perspectives from working newspaper journalists, ascertain the appeal of regional medium/small businesses from a journalistic perspective, and learn how to convey this to their peers. The class aims to deepen student understanding and observations through holding interviews with business owners to determine what issues regional businesses face and thinking about how we can contribute to overcoming these issues.
